DAY 31 AUGUST
We will be celebrating National
Day on 31 August. Do you know the meaning of Malaysian’s National Day?
With your
teacher’s help as well as some assistance from older people in your family,
find out the true meaning to this important day. You can interview your
grandparent, older relatives and family friends who are 60 years and older. Ask
them to relate what they remember about the country before it gained
independence.
Then, write
an essay. Some main point you might like to include are:
Malayan Union, 1875, British, colonies, Union Jack lowered,
Malayan flag hoisted, 12.01am 31 August 1957, ‘Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka! ‘,
First Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (Bapa kemerdekaan),
National Anthem ‘Nagara-ku’.
